Olympia International Ltd.
Policy on Deadstock Fabric Usage
Effective Date: 10th September 2025
At Olympia International Ltd., we are committed to providing our customers with the highest level of transparency, integrity, and quality assurance. This document outlines our updated policy on the procurement and use of deadstock fabrics for customers considering this option.
1. Discontinuation of Deadstock Fabric for External Brands
Olympia International will no longer be offering deadstock fabrics to external brands.
Reason: Deadstock procurement in Bangladesh involves complex legal and financial challenges. Many of these fabrics are traded informally on the black market and are not covered by standard return policies.
To safeguard our operations and our partners’ reputations, we are restricting direct deadstock supply.
2. Customer Orders Using Deadstock Fabric
For clients who still wish to proceed with deadstock fabric through Olympia International:
Confirmed Purchase Orders (PO): Customers must issue a confirmed PO prior to any deadstock procurement.
Mandatory Deposit: A 20% non-refundable deposit is required with the PO.
This deposit will be applied to protect Olympia against financial loss if the fabric proves defective or unsuitable, as deadstock cannot be returned once purchased.
3. Benefits of Deadstock Fabric
Deadstock can offer:
Better pricing compared to fresh bulk fabric.
Faster lead times due to ready availability.
Lower order volumes to support smaller production runs.
4. Risks of Deadstock Fabric
Despite its advantages, deadstock fabric carries inherent risks:
Fabric may fail key quality tests (shrinkage, pilling, colour fastness).
These issues are only identifiable after fabric is in-house and tested.
As such, Olympia cannot guarantee full performance of deadstock fabric prior to testing.
5. Testing and Quality Assurance
Every deadstock fabric will undergo lab testing before use in production.
Testing cost: USD $120 per fabric.
For small orders (e.g., 300–400 pieces), this testing requirement will still apply, meaning a proportion of the order cost is allocated to testing.
Olympia will not use any fabric that we deem unfit for sale, even if purchased as deadstock.
6. Transparency in Case of Loss
If any loss arises due to issues with deadstock fabric:
Clients will be informed prior to shipment.
We will provide a full report on the nature of the issue and proposed next steps.
7. Commitment to Our Customers
Our aim is to give clients the opportunity to benefit from deadstock where it is advantageous, while also providing full transparency on the risks involved. We are committed to ensuring:
No unsuitable fabric will be used in your production.
You are kept informed at every stage of the process.
Our policies protect both your investment and our mutual long-term partnership.
